A note for those who use Symantec Anti-virus

Several years ago I started a photography blog as a link off of my website. I used the Wordpress blogging software, the same software that tens of thousands of bloggers use around the world. Symantec/Norton’s servers scanned my website one day and determined, in their opinion, that this software was malicious and listed my website as dangerous to view. This is absolutely untrue and patently ridiculous.

For other reasons, I later uninstalled and removed the Wordpress software in favor of another means of blogging. Symantec/Norton Antivirus continues to list my website as malicious. No other service considers my site a threat. In an effort to clear my name, I contacted Symantec/Norton to have them remove the message and was informed that the only way they would do that is to re-scan my site. I could request a re-scan of my site but the only way to do so is to create a user account on their service and file the request. This would require divulging personal and business information about me that Symantec/Norton has no business knowing and so I refused to do it.   I view this as extortion and a deceitful business practice, so my website remains listed by them as dangerous.

I assure you that there is nothing malicious or infected about my website and I apologize for their intransigence but I will not be bullied.

Thank you for listening, Ed
