Scott in Iraq -- Infantry Training at Ft. Benning Georgia....
This is our family on March 15th, 2004, the day before he left for 8 weeks of Army Basic Training at Ft. Benning Georgia and then 4 more weeks of Infantry Training. We traveled there for his graduation and Turn Blue ceremonies July 1st.

These are "Scott's boys" and the girls too. The guy with the sideburns is Scott's best friend, Sean. The one with the hat is Bevan. He was Scott's roommate in Reston. Next to him is Kevin, then Christy and Sean's girlfriend Debbie. They caused quit a stir at Ft. Stewart. One guy asked if they were rock stars and another took their picture. All the young guys in Scott's division were like "wow you have your own "crew"!

Before the parade onto the field at the Turn Blue ceremony Scott's Sergeant looks out at the bleachers where we were all sitting and say's something like "there's some wild-ass group of people out there, and some guy with a leopard skin hat" and Scott pipes up with "yeah Sarge that would be me!" It was all pretty funny. They are all a really nice bunch of kids.

Scott's Training Brigade at the Turn Blue Ceremony. The Blue Chord is awarded to those soldiers who have passed Infantry Training.
During the ceremony the families are invited out onto the field to help present the Blue Chord.... and get a big hug from the girlfriends and family in that order.
It was real easy to tell the girfriends and wives from other relatives....
then Mom gets a hug too...
He has lost a lot of weight and there is no fat.
Christy fastens the Blue Chord on his right shoulder. Only Infantrymen wear this chord.
Of these three guys, who is the biggest surprise to those who love them?
